Shout Out to Jerry Uelsmann

I am huge fan of Jerry’s surreal photographic art work.

Actually, Uelsmann  lives in Gainesville FL, only a hop, skip, and a jump away from me. Yet, I’ve never had the opportunity get out there and hear any of his lectures…Maybe one day…

This summer I’m planning a road trip to New Orleans and this will definitely be one of my pit stops- because they have a HUGE collection of his work on display.

However, until then, I’m always content to gaze at his fascinating images…and imagine…

If you’re interested, here is a tribute presentation I found of his work:

This is a compilation video I found on YOUTUBE

FYI- Jerry is a pioneer in this type of photography, no Photoshop for him. He actually creates all his art in a dark room. Jerry’s  darkroom is his studio. His technique requires the use of multiple negatives and enlargers to capture a single cohesive image. He often takes pictures with this being his sole purpose, selecting unique subjects with the intention of separating and then combining them with other negatives in the darkroom. The final product is a dream-like vision to behold.

Check out his books:

NaPoWriMo~Day 10

Day~10

Mere strangers walking the cool orchard path

he whispered to her in brazen songs of passion

such sickening sweetness her mind couldn’t fathom

She steeled herself against all his flattery and charms

but he could resist her no more

hastily he grasped her between strong arms

warm breathing- beating-  presumption peaking

I know you yearn for me- he said with harsh desire

pulling her down and unleashing his fire

her mind was ablaze …shocked and confused

She fought ever so violently to refuse…  no voice was heard

her  eyes wide shut   She soared high in the sky

looking down to silence-    emptiness-  …..safe and sound

slowly as madness subsided,  she awoke with a dreamy shock

and saw him standing above

glinting black were his eyes…. he maliciously smiled

plucked an  apple from the tree

in cupped hand offered  to thee

one bite from the cursed fruit she knew

all had changed            and he knew too

Do you love me now he said with devilish smirk

a voice from deep inside her cried- Why of course I do

No More Girlie Pushups

I’m joining this challenge from WinetoWeightlifting.com a little late in the game…but I’m psyched. I love pushing myself to accomplish goals I never thought I could do.

I’ve actually have been working on my push-ups for a couple of months now-I am able to complete about 25 in one round. My goal for this week will be to try and do 50 consecutively. YAY!  Bring on the push-ups!
